Drilling fluid is compared as the blood of drilling, which are widely used in the oil and gas, CBM, HDD( horizontal directional drilling), micro-tunneling, waste management industries. Drilling fluid’s effectiveness and preciousness decide the importance of drilling solids control system, and the main solids control equipment includes shale shaker, vacuum degasser, mud gas separator, desander, desilter, mud cleaner, decanter centrifuge, mud agitator, various kinds of pumps and other spare parts.
Shale shaker is used in the first phase of solids control system, which deals with the solids bigger than 76um. The processed drilling fluid is deposited into the mud tank and waited for the next processing. The solids removed by the shale shaker are discharged out of the discharge port into a separate holding tank where they await further treatment or disposal.
Desander is used in the second phase of solids control system, which deals with the solids between 47-76um. And desilter is used in the third phase of solids control system, which deals with the solids between 15-47um. Both of them have a shale shaker on the below. And the desander and the desilter can be combined into the mud cleaner, which has the same effect with desander and desilter but save more space.
Decanter centrifuge is used in the final phase of solids control system, which deals with the solids between 2-5um. And submersible pump and screw pump are usually matched with centrifuge.
Other than the main equipment, solids control system still include vacuum degasser, mud gas separator, which are mainly used in the oil and gas industry, and some spare parts, such as oil and water tank, MCC room, flare ignition device, centrifugal pump, gravel pump and so on.
